For over many years the homophobic people told us that we were vermins, lowest of the lowest, the scum of the earth, ragamuffins, and the worst kind of creature that has ever walked the earth. They terrorised us, abused us, sent spies, police and soldiers after us to ruin us and exterminate us. They declared that we can be slaughteed like mere goats, sheep or cow. That is the thinking of the typical homnophobic tyrants, the ugliest type of people you have ever encountered who feels that if they harm, jail or kill a gay man or Lesbian person, God will give them gold medals when they get to heaven. Such people are why GayPride Nigeria was created. We wanted to have the media tool to fight back and to say; "Damn it! We are people too!

Our campaign has been to ask people to leave us alone. Nigeria, just like the other backward looking nations like Gambia, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda and many others are full of homophopbic people. People who dislike other people and make it their business to determine who can fall in love with who and who can sleep with who. We are determined to fight homophobia wherever it rears its ugly head in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world. We will not be silenced.

Today, we are still surrounded by millions of hostile forces, plotting, planning, scheming, and perfecting their hunting tools, to sniff us out, drag us out, shame us openly, parade us publicly, vilify us, use thir political & religious powers to silence us, capture us and destroy us. They say we are an abomination to society, to Islam & Christianity and they say we are worth extermination like the people of Sodom & Gomorrha, but we belong to the same heavenly creator. So, why kill us? They say they are doing what God says to do. Who can fight wicked mentality like that? Alas, their God does not chase, hunt and kill liars, adulterers, thieves, fornicators, womanisers, prostitute, drug users, liars, cheats and murderers - no! Their God is a selective & homophobic God and What a shame that is?
